WILLIE is a wearable device that quickly notifies to workers all the information needed to make their activities more efficient. It is an easy-to-access unique information collector. The workers can then focus on added-value activities and, at the same time, rapidly address requests of intervention when and where it is needed. The organization of their activities is therefore performed according to what is actually happening in the shop-floor.

WILLIE is a configurable device suitable for every production environments. It can be used with every automatic machines and production systems requiring a non-invasive installation.

WILLIE: IT’S JUST A MATTER OF WRIST

The concept of a wearable device to support the human-machine interaction came from Andrea and Mauro, J&W’s founders, while they were working as industrial engineers, fully committed to spreading innovative technologies within the manufacturing industry.

Their expertise starts, right after Master’s Degrees, from the world of applied research that allowed them to handle in advance Industry 4.0 technical aspects. Interconnection, virtualization of production systems, continuous improvement of process and product quality are just a few challenging issues that they have addressed.

Andrea and Mauro worked for industrial production companies, within several sectors, seeking effective solutions to their everyday problems. The main observed common concern was to improve efficiency, especially according to the need to maximize the automation level making the human tasks better and worthy.

WILLIE was born to answer to this request and became a reality thanks to Nicola, entrepreneur with decennial experience in leading an SME of Lombardy metalworking sector, that joined J&W’s team. Nicola made his own company and experience available to WILLIE success enabling the creation of an effective device ready to be used within the industrial environment.

WILLIE is the first of many products that J&W planned to push on the wearable devices for industrial environments market. Its mission is highlighted in the pay-off “Technology in your hands” that explains the idea to realize high technology and easy-to-use devices to support human operators’ work.
